Crochet is cool. Really.
I started a 4 week crochet class at my local knit shop
last night. I tried to teach myself how before but I just couldn’t figure it out. I’m one of those people who needs to see it being done to learn it.
Anyway, here is a sampling of my learning curve.

I felt really comfortable about what I was learning last night. As you can see from the second photo I was, unknowingly, teaching myself to decrease. I’m super smart that way! I also need to get the tension thing under control. When I got home I tried again and feel like I made pretty nice progress, photo 3. We learned how to single crochet last night and next week we will attempt double. Wish me luck!

So, I started my big push to rid myself of all the magazines that are surrounding my desk. Here is what I’ve done so far. . .

These three bags weigh a total of 96 pounds. I know this because I took the time to weigh them, I know it’s silly but they were just so heavy I needed to know! Anyway, I’m happy to have them gone, the bad part is this is only a small amount of what I still have ahead of me. Let’s just say that I’ve had a subscription to Martha Stewart Living magazine since 1995! I really do love the magazine and I’m sure that I’m going to tear out a ton of pages from each and every issue but my need to clear out the craft room is more important than keeping every issue. I have a whole different filing system for the MSL pages, so they don’t have to intermingle with the other magazine pages that live in the accordian filer. Martha would want it that way!
In other news . . .

look at my cute new shoes! I really do love them. The problem? I can’t wear socks with them, even the little tiny ones and I don’t really like to wear shoes without socks, so there has been some adjusting time. It’s alright, I love them enough to figure it out.
