I found this awesome lamp while on my lunch break, I was so excited that I quickly ran it down and put it in my booth.  Everyone was immediately in love!

The base is chalkware and pretty heavy, the lampshade is made of fiberglass that hasn’t been coated so it’s very fragile.  

After looking around on different websites I was able to find out some background on the company along with some photos of other amazing lamps made by Reglor.

Scored a 16″ illuminated floor globe by Cram’s this weekend. According to the timeline at Omniterrum, this globe dates from 1960 or 1961. Egypt and Syria are shown together as the United Arab Republic (1958-1961), French West Africa has dissolved (1960), and Tanzania is still identified at Tanganyika (until 1961).

I recently scored a great cache of vintage hats from Richmond retailers past Thalhimer’s and Miller&Rhoads. I’ll be putting up photos of them over the next 2 weeks & adding them to my Etsy store if anyone would like to get themselves a snazzy hat to wear around town or just to add to your collection.

Getting the hats was a good motivator to finish putting together the lightbox I’ve been working on. The photos turned out really well, I think.

I’ve come across a couple of really great vintage wool winter coats from Miller & Rhodes and Berry Burke and they’re in great shape!  And if you’re interested in Mid-Century Richmond styles, check back in a few days because I’ve got some very cool surprises to share.

As you can see in the top photo, my aluminum apple canisters are still here and I’m so surprised. They are really too cute not to be in your house!  Come and get ‘em!

Also shocking is that the Heywood Wakefield china cabinet is still there.  This thing is a fantastic piece of Mid-Century modern design.  If you are at all into  MCM you need to see this cabinet.  It breaks down into two pieces, so it’s super easy to move.

Here is a small peek at some of the books I got a couple of weeks ago  This bookcase is currently stocked with some great gardening books, flower arranging, crafting, cooking and interior design books. Most range in price from $2.00 to $15.00!  Still to come in the bookcase is a great selection of American History, Russian History, British mystery novels, Cold War spy novels, an assortment of classics and even more cookbooks!

The buffet was in great shape to begin with, all I had to do was shine up the hardware. 

The hedgehogs (in front of the Elvis) are a pair of blue glass paperweights and the Elvis is a cool ceramic bust with a signature from the person who glazed it. The coat’s from Miller& Rhoads (so you know it’s vintage), it’s a nice green wool with some sort of fur collar.

The china cabinet is Heywood Wakefield and I must tell you, it is AWESOME.  I wish I had a place for it or it would still be in my house.  The finish is called Sable (which is printed on the back panel) and the drawer shows the Heywood Wakefield stamp. The china displayed in the cabinet is the Boutonniere, Ever Yours pattern from Taylor Smith Taylor.  We didn’t get a close up photo of the pattern but you can check it out on eBay. You may be wondering what the four yellow items on top of the cabinet are . .  . well, those are yellow apple canisters.  That’s right, Yellow Apple Canisters, with stems and leaves on the lids! Really cute. 

Check out the lamp in the photo above, it reminds me of Jeannie’s bottle.  Also, the turquoise typewriter still has a ribbon and works great.

The asian ladies below are really pretty, their costumes are great.

After thinking about it for a long time, I’ve jumped into the world of antiquing. I’m renting a space at the Cold Harbor Antique Mall in Mechanicsville and I’ve got furniture and lamps and dishes and stuff for sale.

I really like going around to all of the antique shops around the area and had been thinking about getting a space in one of them for the past 6 months or so. Back at the end of October, the opportunity came up to get a space in one of my favorites and I decided to go for it.

With this having been in the works for a little while, our house had been filling up with old and/or interesting things. I’ve been moving them into the space over the past few weeks and finding new sources of the kinds of things that I’d like to be selling.

The best items that I have right now are Mid-Century pieces: an American of Martinsville coffee table, a few lamps, a teacher’s desk. I’ve also got some of my mom’s hand-made Christmas stockings, a very interesting vintage poster of the female reproductive organs, and a set of Taylor Smith Taylor dishes including the coffee pitcher.

Come on out and visit! Cold Harbor Antique Mall is just north of the city, right up Mechanicsville Turnpike. It has maybe 80 different vendors, so there ought to be something interesting to you.
